Book Bag Project

Before school starts each year, the Good Samaritan Center asks for donations to the BACKPACK PROJECT for Loudon County school children.  The backpacks are filled with grade appropriate school supplies that the parents of low-income children can’t afford. We ask teachers to supply a list of children for each grade. In 2011, GSC distributed over 800 backpacks to low income children in our county. It further saddens us to report that roughly 3000 children in Loudon county also qualify for the free lunch program.

Combined with an unstable economy and unemployment numbers rising, so will the need for increased donations to GSC’s Educating a child backpack project. GSC is dedicated to this program, and with your help, no deprived child will have to go to school without the tools needed for a good education.

     Any/all donation amounts are gratefully accepted, and are tax deductible.  A donation of $25 will supply one child with a backpack and all the school supplies they need.
